This is such a tough place to review if you put it into context of Singapore and the prices you pay for other accomodation... As other reviewers have said, yes this place does smell somewhat musty, both in the lobby and the rooms. When you step out of the lift, the place resembles a dodgy movie with trashy velvet chairs to sit on and a not impolite receptionist but not welcoming either. The key deposit needs to be paid in cash (£10 from memory) which you need to plan for if travelling with a credit card. You can pay in any currency though I believe (they took GBP). We stayed in two different rooms here due to the way we booked, the first was spacious but didn't feel particularly clean and had more a potent musty smell than the other. The other was much smaller with only room to get out of the bed on one side. Both bathrooms were exceptionally small and had no shower screen or curtain so your toilet and sink got very wet in the process of showering. Our friend had a single room and could actually sit on the toilet and shower at the same time had he so desired (who knows if he took up that option!!). Overall I very much disliked staying here and hope I do not have to experience it again. That being said, they did provide a little toiletry bag with bits in (only gave us one per room though and only on our first booking) which was nice and when you compare the price of this place to others in Chinatown (great location) you'll find you won't get much else for your money. Personally, I would pay the bit extra and stay in a Hostel (yes some of the Hostels are more expensive than this place!) because although you share rooms and bathrooms you can find ones cleaner than this place and without the smell or sadness

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here last year whilst travelling around Asia. The room was located in an excellent area (Chinatown) within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The room was facing the street and had cool views of the city. Overall, great stay!

“+” Budget hotel in hard of China town. Staying here for 4 nights in Family room. Room is small but clean and adequate. Positive: The room is small but clean and the 2 desk staff I had interaction with where polite but not friendly or welcoming. I like the location in Chinatown for the vibe and the energy Negative Request deposit IN CASH for the room key, very inconvenient for travelers who rely on their CC when travelling - hello this is the 21st century. Sound-proofing is a concept they haven't tried to execute on so you may feel like you're sharing your room with your neighbor.

We had a terrible time here. The online photos looked nice enough - but what a horrendous surprise on our arrival! -Bugs in the bathroom! -Disgusting smell. -The bathroom itself tiny - the water from the shower (no glass door or shower curtain) ran across the tiny room and flooded the entire room. The door was soaked in water just as the wash basin (which started leaking) -Toilet paper NOT included, we had to get some at the reception. -No one cared about our complaints. Do yourself a favour - have a look at the photos and book somewhere else!
